I-285/I-20 East Interchange Sound Walls

Client: East Interchange Builders, a joint venture of Archer Western Construction and E.R. Snell Contractor

Project: Part of GDOT's Major Mobility Investment Program to rebuild one of metro Atlanta's busiest interchanges. Construction took approximately 1.5 years and reached substantial completion in September 2026, delivering over 750,000 square feet of sound walls, 8 new or improved bridges, and 11 lane miles of roadway improvements.

Partner: Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)

Challenges: The walls stretch for several miles, so crews had to deal with changing terrain, work next to live interstate traffic, and coordinate across a very large project footprint.

Result: Tricor finished the project on time, completing each wall inside the timeframe GDOT set while keeping traffic moving on I-285 and I-20. Tricor used base-plated posts with anchor bolts and 8-foot-tall precast concrete panels to reduce the number of crane picks required and helped crews keep pace from one wall to the next.
